Detecting Pharmaceuticals in Water

Developed and optimized two techniques—voltammetry and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS)—for detecting and quantifying praziquantel (PZQ), an important antiparasitic drug, in freshwater and saltwater samples. Both methods share a common solid phase extraction sample pretreatment strategy. While GC-MS achieves lower detection limits, voltammetry offers a cost-effective, portable alternative for on-site testing.
